Ubisoft Reports 2026 :1€ Billion Loss and Cancels Six Games, Including Prince of Persia Remake

French game publisher Ubisoft has announced major changes after a challenging period for the company. Ubisoft now expects a large financial loss for its current business year and has decided to cancel several upcoming games as part of a big restructuring plan.

Big Financial Loss for Ubisoft

Ubisoft revealed that it now expects to record about 1 billion euros in operating losses for the 2025–2026 fiscal year. This comes after several years of struggling game launches and rising development costs.

The company originally hoped to break even, but its financial forecast has been revised due to project cancellations and other restructuring efforts.

Six Games Cancelled — Including Prince of Persia Remake

As part of the restructuring, Ubisoft has stopped work on six games that were in development. This includes the highly anticipated Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake, a project that many fans had been waiting for.

In addition to the remake, Ubisoft said it canceled four other unannounced titles and one mobile game that did not meet the company’s new quality and strategic criteria.

Some Games Are Delayed Instead of Canceled

Ubisoft also announced that seven other games will be delayed so that developers have more time to improve them. These titles were originally planned for release this year but have been postponed to ensure better quality and long-term value.

New Organization Model to Focus on Quality

To help turn things around, Ubisoft is restructuring its internal business model. The company plans to organize teams into five “Creative Houses”, each focused on a different type of game genre or experience.

This new structure is meant to help teams work more efficiently and create higher-quality games. Ubisoft also aims to reduce costs and streamline development to better compete in today’s video game market.

What This Means for Players and Fans

  • The Prince of Persia remake will not be released in its current form.

Some upcoming games will be delayed so developers can improve them.

Ubisoft is changing how it operates to focus more on long-term success.

While this news might disappoint some gamers, Ubisoft believes the changes will lead to better games in the future.
